I told her that meantime girls don't end up as such just because they don't look good enough.

     And then she told me....

"But you have to admit, most of the girls who end up as a girlfriend material are the pretty ones."

______________

I couldn't say for certain if the statement was meant to ask me something, or if it was meant to stir up the interaction.

When interacting with this woman, I have to take note that she's in a long term relationship way longer than mine. I no longer remember when the "meantime" relationships took place within the time span of her legitimate relationship. I no longer remember the details of what she was telling me. Though she did say that the main relationship was an open relationship so I guess, there were instances of relationship overlaps.

&n...

Looking at the Psychological and Philosophical Context of The Dark Knight (Spoilers)

After all, the series already embodies the aforementioned characteristics.

Therefore, just being dark per se won't be able to cut it when we refer to doing something out of the Batman franchise. It's already obvious that the series would be dark and it would be a matter of careful thinking as to how to keep the franchise interesting.

When Batman Begins was about to be shown, there were questions raised as to how the film would keep its Noir identity by making it apparent that the ...

Normally, most of her meantime girl ilk don't progress beyond the first category. Ouch! Anyway, she should be thankful she has a brain. She said, she can no longer remember saying it. At that time, I was not in the mood in retelling her the situation that brought her into saying that statement. Still, I'll blog about it just the same. I'm not sure if she'll be able to read this blog soon enough, but that's quite beyond the point.

I like the way she delivered that line--simple, straightforward, and considerably honest.
The Launch of Iphone 3G -- Thoughts From a Nokia N82 Geek.

I was a bit surprised with what I discovered in the news with regard to the Iphone 3G hype. Every dork in town are lining up in the streets to have the opportunity to be among the first people to have the unit, even if meant they have to take their evening sleep there.

The situation reminds me of most dork oriented events, e.g., launch of Halo 2 on the X-Box, early screening of a Star Wars movie, etc. The Iphone 3G hype, with a $199 price tag, and a set of 3G features, shows quite a lot of interesting revelations:

USA is a couple of years behind any other country when it comes to mobile phone technology.

Dorks now have a chance to be cool.

And still, some people with more money and less brain would also have a chance to be cool.

Yeah, that's right. USA is still lagging when it comes to mobile phone technology. 3G? I'm already been using it since my Nokia N70 days, though not that much. What Apple won't t...

A Very Special Love -- Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz

I saw this music video a while ago. It shows clips from the upcoming movie. The couple being portrayed here shows similarity with the better-known Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson of My Girl, where the girl acts a perky, naive, main character and the male acts as an uptight, well established business executive. The formula is cliche-ic, the plot is expectedly light, but the twist is...the chemistry is surprisingly good, based from what I saw on the trailer. Cheesy, but good, definitely even more so than the less refined Kim-Gerald duo. I have little faith in the director though, since I wasn't really that impressed with One More Chance, but at least the trailer is worth looking.

They're practically everywhere.

To those of you who'd be reading this that have little idea of what UP life is like, it's basically like this--remember those attention-whore, leader-wannabe dorks that everybody hates in high school? Well, most of them ended up in UP. And guess what, more attention-whorish dorks mean more competition which also means that a typical UPIAN would be expected to jack-up even more his attention-whoring proficiency just to remain competitive.

Unless, of course, the UPIAN would be in a college where attention whoring is not that much important and you can practically survive with zero traces of personality and social life, like the College of Engineering, for example. At that time, pinoyexchange.com was booming and somebody took the idea of making something similar for the UP crowd, I guess. Ateneo, La Salle, and UST made their own counterpart websites but only peyups.com remained legitimately successful, probably because...uhmmm....students of Ateneo and La Salle have a legitimate life outside the internet and uhmmmmm.....UST peeps are not known for making individualistic assertive opinions. Har har!

And being patterned after pinoyexchange.com's forum set-up, you'd expect similar dynamics. Peyups.com used to have a Sex and Intimacy forum like PEX, but like UP in general (or anything that has state subsidy), peyups.com is cheap and cannot afford the bandwidth coming from the migrants of Manilatonight.com, wh...

Why I Love / Hate Peyups.com -- Interacting With the Legendary Peyups Alpha Queen

Honestly, I wouldn't be writing about this if she didn't give me a full go-signal. This is something that I'd rather keep unknown to many. I don't know. Let them play with what they perceive, and keep another layer of truth unnoticed. But to give her the benefit of the doubt, I'd write something about her so that things would not come solely from her own perspective. She's Peyups.com's queen--love her or hate her, she always have to carry both sides.

She is the queen--love her for her iconic status, or hate her for what she is inside that chuckles, which is made even more cute by the dimples. She gets the alpha bitch image as much as the alpha queen image. Certainly, not the perfect figure for the making of diplomacy--more like a female figure for getting into a girlie slugfest.

___________________________

Cypocalypse2: Dude, stop mentioning the words queen, alpha, iconic, and whatnot. Her ego would no longer fit in whatever office ro...

Eastwood is a call center haven anyway.

A few minutes later....

Taxi Driver: You're a call center agent?

Cypocalypse: No. Not here. I just attended a band gig here. My favorite band performs here every Monday, so that's why I'm here. But I used to work as a call agent before, a couple of months ago. It will be soon before I go back. I need to.

Taxi Driver: Is the pay good? I head that you guys earn something like 20k for a startup?

Cypocalypse: 15k would be a more appropriate average. Not that big but it can get me going. I still get support so, if anything, that's just extra luxury money.

Taxi Driver: Well, that's big enough.

Cypocalypse: Comparatively, yeah. But....it's not the kind of thing that's really sustainable. The job is hardly stable to begin with, ...

The Beauty of a Live Band Performance -- Following Lala's Trail (Part 3)

     Continuing the inner monologue...
_________________

Cypocalypse1: This week's performance was better than the last.

Cypocalypse2: Why?

Cypocalypse1: Two sets, which means, more selection of songs.

Cypocalypse2: Ok.

Cypocalypse1: I noticed that Lala's dad was a bit anal about the sound system. Actually, every member of the bad was. The set-up wasn't as good as the week before. They used the old components for this week's performance. That's what Eastwood let them used..

Cypoclaypse2: Ok.

Cypocalypse1: But if I were them, I would cut myself some slack. The performances were good anyway. Like always.

Cypocalypse2:

Cypocalypse1: The fact is, I don't think the average crowd can distinguish the difference of a sound coming from a 128 kbps track on a default ipod headset as compared to a 192 kbps sound coming from a Sennheiser IEM. But at least it goes to show that the band was serious in delivering a good performance. That's professionalism.

Cypocalypse2: Yeah, and you're now slowly becomi...
